I wasn't sure where my SQL client came from or what it might be doing because it was installed months before I came along, so I simply renamed the \{SQL Svr Std 2008 R2 install location}\1033_ENU_LP\x64\Setup\x64\sqlncli.msi to the sqlncli_64.msi that it was looking for.
