Brad Pitt Announcement: Running for President

OK, perhaps Brad Pitt running for President of the United States in 2008 is a bit unlikely, but why not? Brad Pitt wouldn't be the first celebrity or Hollywood icon that has ever run for President of the United States. We elected Reagan didn't we?

I just had to do a quick post about this "big announcement" that Brad Pitt is going to exclusively deliver tomorrow on the morning news. The most likely thing would be something about him and Angelina Jolie breaking up, or him getting back with Jennifer Aniston, but why couldn't it be something truly newsworthy - like Brad Pitt running for President?

I say "truly newsworthy", because quite honestly, I am so sick of hearing about these celebrities' personal lives. I don't call that type of stuff "news" or even newsworthy. How is it any more newsworthy than your neighbor getting a divorce or something. Who cares! Give me something to truly get my interest. Him running for President would do that.

So, the big secret announcement will remain a secret a few more hours it seems. But, here's hoping it is something exciting and of real interest and impact to all of us - and beyond just the gossip-level interest. Given this 2008 Presidential campaign, and the list of candidates in the race thus far, it's not like Brad couldn't hold his own :)

(OK, I'm kidding a bit here -- some of the people running are eminently more "qualified" for the office by comparison to Brad Pitt, but I fear they are all "more of the same" - meaning, the standard politician that I and many others are sick of - so, a new option could make things interesting for a while at least). OK, enough said. I, like everyone else, will have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if Brad Pitt is running for President, or if it is just some standard-issue personal-life garbage we'll have to hear about for the weeks to follow.
